作品详情
Pebble is an ironic sculpture modeled on a pebble. It is the first of a series called Pop Rocks, a play on the American word for soda (pop) and a nostalgic sweet called a pop rock. The irony comes from the idea of creating a rock out of something that was once mined out a rock.

Sculptor and mixed media artist
British sculptor Jonathan Homewood, based in Tsukuba, Japan, crafts evocative forms that celebrate the potential hidden within the overlooked. His work is a journey of reimagining, where fragments of a consumerist world are woven into intricate, sculptures—ranging from full-scale human figures and endangered species to deities, expansive landscapes, and abstract forms.
At the core of Jon’s practice is meticulous weaving of discarded aluminum strips over steel armatures. He is drawn to the vivid graphics and colors of soda cans—artworks designed to entice, yet discarded without a second glance. By reclaiming these surfaces, he captures a unique modern nostalgia, inviting viewers to find beauty in the familiar patterns of the everyday. This transformation breathes spirit into "disposable" materials, turning them into permanent meditations on resilience, history, and craftsmanship.
His sculptures serve as a dialogue between what we consider waste and what could have a second life.
