Artist
Kumiko is a Japanese artist who embarked on her journey as an abstract painter in her 50s after working in the financial industry for nearly 30 years.
Her artistic concept revolves around the profound question, “What does it mean to live?” Her works translate intangible memories, emotions, and thoughts into visible forms, using elements of “nature” as metaphors on canvas. Her artwork is distinguished by its rich textures. Utilizing the impasto technique, she layers paint thickly, each layer representing the immense overlap of time and space. The drawing marks within these layers capture the invisible movements and connections of energy. These textured depths invite viewers into contemplation, drawing them into a deeper understanding of the visual dialogue she creates.
