As you step up onto the raised floor of the kitchen entrance at Nijo-jo Castle, you can see a video projected onto the entire wall. Based on the theme oflife as something transient and empty, taken from Kamo no Chomei's Hojoki (Visions of a Torn World), this installation with a soundscape and computer-generated video depicts the dynamic relationship between weather, the landscape, and natural disasters, continuously generated in an aspect ratio that is similar to that of a horizontal emaki picture scroll.
Hojoki : An essay written by Kamo no Chomei about 800 years ago. It is said to be Japan's oldest disaster reportage
