戸田はこれまで、「場に付随する記憶」と「その場の複層性」を、インスタレーション、写真、映像といったメディアを通して視覚化を試みてきました。本展示では、浅草にかつて存在した凌雲閣、東京スカイツリータワーを着想点とした映像作品(2022年5月ドイツ、アイゼナハにて発表)を起点に、詩人やギタリストといった他分野のアーティストを交えたインスタレーション作品を展開します。映像作品に加え、浅草凌雲閣があったとされる地域や墨田区地域で採取された「街の拓本」を用いて制作された平面作品12点も展示されます。「風景」というものが客観的で、主体と距離を持った存在―単なる視覚的情報として処理される存在―ではなく、個人の内に内包された主観的なものでありつつも、そこに他者の存在も混ざり込む、有機的なものであることを提示します。

Toda has been attempting to visualize "memories associated with a place" and "the complexity of that place" through various media such as installations, photography, and film. Starting from a video work inspired by the Ryounkaku that once existed in Asakusa and the Tokyo Skytree Tower (presented in May 2022 in Eisenach, Germany), this exhibition will unfold with installation works involving artists from other fields such as a poet and a guitarist. In addition to the video work, twelve flat works created using "frottages of the streets" collected from the area where Ryounkaku in Asakusa was once located and the Sumida region will be exhibited. It aims to present "landscapes" not as purely objective entities with a distance from the subject—mere visual information—but as subjective elements encapsulated within individuals, intertwined with the presence of others, representing an organic entity.
