Wade Shinichi

Born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1976, Zotonsha is the representative of Zotonsha. Graduated from Kyoto Art Junior College, Department of Plastic Arts in 1997, and received the 23rd Holbein Scholarship in 2008. After working at the Public Relations Office of the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature, he is now freelance.

In his early years, he continued to work mainly with oil paintings, but gradually became unable to paint, and he has continued to explore various techniques, including drawing, video, animation, installation, and photography.

In recent years, he has continued to experiment without the intention of presenting his work, but in 2010 he began the “Grounding Point” project, in which he walked throughout Japan, picked up trash from the streets, squashed it, and made drawings on cards with the paints he created, which he documented in a photo book, “Body and Earth: Touching the Bottom of the Human World (Airi Shuppan, 2023).

Using the inability to draw and the inability to create as a clue, he continues to work as if to touch, trace, and confirm the contours and boundaries of being, being, and drawing.
