There are parts of my work expressed with dots. The dots drawn in the landscape give the impression that the colors are ambiguous and full of life. I'm reviving my memories of nature in the city on the screen with overlapping dots. Then, fictional nature is born on the screen. There, the ambiguity of existence arises, and it overlaps with the changing natural state of the city. The dot version is made by randomly attaching round stickers to the film. As many layers of silkscreen, which I choose for expression, the thickness of the ink accompanies the thickness of the ink creates a profound sense of material color. Various colors are visible and hidden on the screen, and the slight mixing of colors and textures created by chance overlapping colors is interesting.
Also, I would like to talk about why I choose urban nature. It is an urban area where the landscape changes drastically due to development and construction, and when you find a place with nature, you feel a sense of security and anxiety that it will be demolished. I realized that behind these feelings, it was because I was well aware of the existence of immutable nature, which is beyond human reach, and nature that is not eternal. From my childhood until now, when I often went to my mother's countryside, I was moved every time by the original scenery that was different from the city. On the other hand, in the city where I live, construction and development have progressed, and the surrounding landscape changes drastically. Even though the scenery in the countryside hasn't changed from the old days, I felt a gap in the fact that the scenery of the city changed before my memory could keep up. Nonetheless, in cities, I sometimes find wild places full of weeds. I feel the spirituality of people who love nature left behind and cannot get rid of everything, and I feel sympathy. Although man-made, it is a natural landscape left in the city. I am fascinated by the cityscape.
It's not necessarily a landscape that will exist in the future, but I continue to choose that landscape so that people can leave memories of nature that definitely existed.
