Paintings are also fiction.Even if it is a realistic depiction of the reality before one’s eyes, a painting is a painting on a thin canvas and does not transcend it.Or rather, what transcends it is what is painterly. The attempt to capture in painting what I see, what I saw in my mind, is also a reconsideration of what is “pictorial. What I saw is made visible again in the painting. In other words, I am trying again to take a closer see at what it saw like.
