Tsen-Yu Lai, born in Miaoli, Taiwan, in 1996. Graduated from the M.F.A. (Printmaking) of Taipei National University of the Arts.

Her practice begins with personal experience, approaching artmaking as a process of navigating emotions and searching for belonging. While her earlier works often centered on the theme of “home,” drawing motivation from the discomforts and uncertainties perceived within it, her recent creations revisit the idea of home with a lighter, more open perspective.

Lai takes everyday landscapes as her subject matter, selecting scenes through a wandering, walk-like rhythm of observation. She weaves bodily experience, spatial perception, and emotional resonance into her images, recording these moments through printmaking. To her, printmaking resembles a trace or a mark—an imprint of experience and a way of becoming familiar with a place. By connecting one “point” to another in her daily encounters, she gradually outlines a personal map of comfort, orientation, and belonging.
