Work Details

■Details of the work

Momoko Yoshida has been practicing the technique of video recording her own mannequins and background maquettes, selecting the most appropriate frame from the video, and then creating a drawing of it. In recent years, she has been working on canvas instead of the massless textures such as polyester that she used to use as support material.

"Us_Field° #2” is based on the martyr St. Sebastian, whose flank is dripping with green blood, inspired by the game PUBG, where bloodshed can be changed to green for ethical reasons. Yoshida found a refractive fascination in this specification, which was designed to avoid direct expression and to make the game more wholesome and comfortable to play. In addition to fire, wind, water, and earth, which make up the world, Aristotle proposed a fifth element, ester (ether), which means “the upper layer of the atmosphere, the region of the clouds and moon and the catalyst of light. It is also the origin of the word polyester. While maintaining the very polyester (poly “many” + ester “ether”) expression, the author's love and hatred of the doujinshi culture such as derivative works, the body, and the virtual battles that take place in the world are superimposed. The work overlaps the author's view of the “Royal”. In the gap between the ethics that pour down mercilessly, a scene that cannot be a story is born and disappears.
