takayuki.o

artist architect

Takayuki.o creates digital collages by extracting figurative elements from the real world and layering traces produced by the transformation of time and memory. His works intentionally avoid fixed meanings and perspectives, forming a structure in which a fictional space emerges through the collision of fragments. He is also a licensed First-Class Architect (Japan) and has long worked in architectural design; grounded in this architectural way of thinking, he incorporates the relationship between spatial structure and perception into his practice. Takayuki.o is a digital collage artist who constructs fictional spaces distinct from reality by extracting fragments of representational imagery from the real world and layering traces of transformation shaped by time and memory. What emerges is neither a depiction of reality nor surrealism, but fiction itself—a structure in which time, memory, and meaning collide and coexist while remaining disconnected. His works deliberately reject clear meanings and singular viewpoints. The fragments do not function as narrative or symbolic devices that guide interpretation; they are placed as discontinuous elements within unstable relationships. As a result, the images resist immediate understanding and sustain unresolved tension within the viewer. Fiction is not presented as a completed image, but is generated through the act of viewing. His interest lies not in assigning meaning, but in the unstable state just before meaning emerges—an in-between condition where interpretation is about to form but has not yet settled. He is a licensed First-Class Architect (Japan) with long experience in architectural design, and his practice is informed by architectural ways of thinking, particularly the relationship between spatial structure and perception. He was selected for CICA Museum’s TEXT-URE 2026 and Portrait Program, and received the Grand Prize in STEPPING INTO A WORLD II at Gallery Max New York. He has exhibited internationally, including in New York, Tokyo, Osaka, Paris, and Dubai.
