Work Details
I paint dance as a motif using Japanese painting materials. I paint all forms of dance such as figure skating, Nihon-Buyo or ballet, like the frames of an animation. Recently I have started a method where I base my painting on real dances I see and interviews.
Testimonial

I immediately thought of Giacomo Balla when I saw Yamaba’s work. However, in her artwork with motifs of dance such as ballet and Nihon-Buyo, there is no essence of the destruction or mechanisation of humanity that the futurists would eventually seek. In her paintings, the dancers selected as her motifs move around lively, and create a space full of joy as a large moving body.
