Based in Tokyo. Painting is like trying to remember.I draw to try to make it visible within me.Unlike concrete memories, these are images generated by my own experiences and accumulated time, and are more intimate than reality. Paintings are also fiction.Even if it is a realistic depiction of the reality before one’s eyes, a painting is a painting on a thin canvas and does not transcend it.Or rather, what transcends it is what is painterly. The attempt to capture in painting what I see, what I saw in my mind, is also a reconsideration of what is “pictorial. What I saw is made visible again in the painting. In other words, I am trying again to take a closer see at what it saw like.
