Artist
Born in 1992 in Fukuoka. Completed the Kyoto University of Art and Design (currently Kyoto University of Art) Graduate School of Art major/painting area in 2017. Currently based in Tokyo. Okubo, who talks about his own work as “the act of recognizing images and searching for inconsistencies in a shallow space called a flat surface,” draws the outline of the motif with quick lines and intentionally abstracts it, thereby drawing the motif out of the story connected behind it. The ambiguous images created in this way intersect with the viewer's memories and senses, and open up room for interpretation of new landscapes and stories.
