Painter based in Tamsui, TaiwanBiographyChen Wan-Ching (artAngel) is an artist based in Tamsui, Taiwan. Drawing on music, faith, and light as the core of her practice, she works primarily in oil painting. She is currently a full-time resident artist at the New Taipei City International Artist Village, and is also active as an art educator.Artist StatementIn recent years, her practice has centred on translating the sensation of music into visual form, weaving musical rhythm and resonance into the painted surface. Rather than treating painting as something merely to be looked at, she seeks to create works that can be “heard” — where music is felt through the movement of colour and line.Within her compositions, dots become musical notes, light becomes faith, and flowing lines become rhythm, each transformed into colour and pictorial structure. Connecting childhood memories of music and the piano to her present-day painting, she renders the sensations, memories, and emotions that music evokes into visible form, pursuing a distinctive language of “music × painting.”
