Work Details
Concept and production intention of the work
This work is a new interpretation of “Pieta,” which is an iconic Christian motif. “Pieta” is a term indicating the scene where Jesus, who was crucified, was taken down from the cross and held by Mary.
Mary is not depicted as a traditional saint, but as a goat wearing a horn and blue hood. On that lap lies a fragmented human figure, reminiscent of Jesus. The fact that Maria is depicted as a goat has the meaning of being a metaphor for nature. Through the composition of nature supporting humans, this work clearly shows that humans are surrounded by nature and are inseparable from nature.
