Work Details
私は逗子で育ったので猿島は昔から知っていました。
ただそれは対岸からの木々に覆われた自然の島という認識でしかありませんでした。 はじめて島に渡ったのは7、8年前だったと思います。その時、はじめて猿島がかつて要塞だったということを知り、覆われている木々はそれを隠すために残されたものと知りました。 かつての要塞は解体され、植物は砲台に根を張り、蔓はレンガの色を隠しています。 植物は未だ要塞時代の役割をはたしているなぁ。と思った時、対岸から私の見る猿島は要塞になったと思います。
『風速０』というタイトルは、温度差があることから生まれる風が無いような、地上の構造物と飛行機との温度差を無くしたいと試みて付けたシリーズのタイトルです。 要塞の中と対岸からそれが出来ていたら嬉しいです。

Graduated from Bunka Gakuin. 1973年生まれ、文化学院卒業。2000年頃より夜の空を飛ぶ飛行機の軌跡と地上にある構造物とを大判のフィルムカメラで撮影した風景のシリーズを『風速0』として発表、国内外で個展、グループ展に参加しています。 Presented series of works titled as “Wind Speed 0” in which Kutsuna shot and captured variety of landscapes, consisted of constructed objects on land and trajectory of airplane flying at night, using a large-sized-film camera. His works can be seen at various personal and group exhibitions in Japan, as well as in overseas.
