Work Details
By being given a name, people are identified as others, have outlines, and are defined as beings.
However, on the other hand, names are inherently fluid, and there is also violence that simplifies and fixes an ambiguous inner world.
The face depicted in this portrait appears to be someone, not anyone else.
Her gaze is cloudy, her facial expressions refuse to be deciphered, and her skin is shaking unsteadily like a wall that is about to collapse.
Despite the fact that clear information showing “personality” is missing there, viewers unknowingly try to search for “the owner of this face.”
This portrait is placed in a suspended state, as an entity that cannot be named, or has been stripped of its name.
The rough matière and oozing color layers are not just physical bodies; memories, emotions, and social roles have been overwritten over and over, and left on the screen as traces of wear and tear.
Faces are not on their way to perfection; rather, they continue to disintegrate over time.
Although this work is a portrait, it does not answer the question “Who am I?”
Rather, through its absence, it is trying to reveal the ambiguity of human existence and the unstable state before it is defined by name.

Artist
oil painter
A contemporary oil painter known for his unique style that makes you feel “vibrations” on the screen. The work gives viewers an experience where real and virtual images intersect, and the boundary between reality and fantasy fluctuates. It mainly creates portraits, and expresses the uncertainty of the subject's inner world and existence itself with a delicate and bold touch.
While capturing a moment's truth through the person's poses and facial expressions, it also suggests that it is a product of illusion or memory. Geometric fluctuations and abstract elements are often added to the background and composition, creating a vibrating rhythm throughout the work.
