Work Details

This series began by taking photographs of the scenery that caught my eye for 31 days in 2025/8. If only colors are extracted from the 31 images taken, specific spaces and objects disappear, and only the combination of multiple colors and the date they were experienced remain. However, “people who see this work,” which is another component, will be added to this. Certain color combinations evoke unique feelings and memories depending on who sees them. Then, even though they weren't in the same place, the memories of everyone who experienced that color begin to connect to this one picture. Here, I felt the possibility of abstraction, like a common diary of mankind.

Hiroshi Kaki

Abstract artist

I am Hiroshi Kaki, an abstract painter from Oita Prefecture.

My work focuses on the feelings and thoughts we experience when confronting phenomena found in nature—cycles, irregular patterns, and unpredictable movements. I prioritize the process, completing pieces while engaging in dialogue with natural forces like the way sunlight falls or water flows.
Through my work, I hope to deepen our connection with nature, savor the flow of all things, and bring joy to everyday life. I would be happy if my pieces not only offer daily healing and vitality but also help viewers notice the subtle wonders within their ordinary routines.
