Work Details
中国で生まれ、イギリスや日本で哲学や歴史を学んだリリー・シュウは、写真やビデオ、コラージュなどの技法で、具象と抽象、意識と無意識など、対称的な概念を並置させて、あるいはレイヤーのように重ね合わせて、イメージの持つ複層的な意味を探ろうとするような作品を発表しています。「Occupy」は、被植民地としての歴史を持つ東アジアの国々で、作家が撮りためた断片的なイメージからなる写真のシリーズです。連続するイメージは、ナラティブに何かを語るものでも、個別的に何かを象徴するものとも異なりますが、現代の日常生活の端々に潜む、支配と被支配の構造をうっすらと浮かび上がらせます。
