GALLERY ROOM A, a commercial gallery operated by the art communication platform ArtSticker, will hold a solo exhibition “Road Mirage (near and far water)” by Gunji from 2026/4/25 (Sat).
This exhibition is Gunji's first solo exhibition after graduating from university, and it is positioned as an extension of his work up until now.

Using his own inner “miniature garden” as a motif, Gunji has cut out fragments of relationships and conversations between the people appearing there like snapshots and expressed them as paintings. Using the downtown area of the city as the original landscape, it depicts themes such as momentary human patterns and love for neighbors.

In this exhibition, we will present a group of new works interspersed with motifs evocative of Tokyo and images of distant foreign countries, set in the “fantastic landscape reminiscent of a desert,” which was also drawn in his graduation work. The title “Road Mirage” comes from “running water,” and it symbolizes the gap between distance and perception, like a statue that gets closer and farther away.
The term “near and far water” is superimposed on blood and water flowing through one's own body and that flowing into the body of another person far away. Even though they are separated by a distance where they cannot be touched, they may share their senses somewhere ____. This kind of relationship quietly unfolds in the work.

Please take a look at this exhibition, which questions the distance and connection between self and others through fragments where images of different distances intersect.
