Work Details

I believe we can only face others to the same depth we have faced ourselves. The time spent confronting my own weakness at the bottom of long nights— the distance I’ve descended is the distance by which I can hold someone else’s sorrow.

MOMO

contemporary artist

MOMO was born in 1996 in Kanagawa. Starting from the relationship that “words cannot capture things,” he created paintings and installations with motifs of words themselves. It depicts fundamental themes such as love, loneliness, desire, and loss, and the depth of emotions hidden in everyday life. Large-scale works will be shown at the west exit of Shibuya Station in 2026. In recent years, the “Room Series” using beds and lights has been developed. Received the “GEISAI #22 & Classic” Ace Hotel Award (2023).
