Work Details

plastic

I was drawn to the mismatch between the pop image of a banana and the ambiguity of the action itself.
That sense of contrast inspired the title for this body of work, as well as the exhibition as a whole.

The act holds no particular meaning.
It is a gesture that slightly deviates from the structures of order and function in the world.
This sense of “oddness” or “displacement” momentarily suspends the relationships and meanings we tend to take for granted.
My practice also begins from such a feeling of deviation.

The title “Banana to the Ear” embodies an attitude that accepts these slightly absurd, functionless actions—a state where humor and resignation coexist.
For me, painting is not a means of telling stories or conveying meaning,
but a space for contemplating the phenomenon of things and bodies simply being there.
