過敏性の免疫応答による皮膚疾患であるアトピー性皮膚炎はἀτοπία（アトピア）というギリシア語を語源にもつ。これは、否定を表す「ア」と場所を意味する「トポス」が合体した「アトポス」の名詞形で、元々は「あるべき処にあるべきものが無い」状態を指し、「場違い」「場外れ」という意味で訳される。転じて「特定されていない」「奇妙な」という意味合いからアトピーという言葉が命名されたという。
私はこれまで、都市空間に点在する墓地や、高速道路の建設現場とその周辺など、ある特定の性質をもつ場所や空間に着目し、写真による作品制作を行ってきた。この作品では、アトピーの語源から着想を得て、身体における場所性とは何かということに意識を向けた。
私たちの全身を覆い、外部の世界との接点となる臓器である皮膚をひとつの地表として捉えなおし、場所を見つめる視線をアトピーである自分自身の皮膚へと向ける。それは、写真による記録と描写によって場所の性質を捉えようとする試みを、皮膚を被写体に行うということだと考えている。

1988年宮城県生まれ。2015年京都造形芸術大学大学院修士課程修了。 Born in Miyagi, 1988. Completed his master’s degree at Kyoto University of Art and Design Graduate School in 2015. 1988年宮城県生まれ。2015年京都造形芸術大学大学院修士課程修了。人と環境との関わりをとらえることを大きなテーマとしながら、都市および郊外をフィールドに写真による作品制作を続ける。近年の主な個展に15年「Heterotopia」（KUNST ARZT、京都）、15年「Beyond the Landscape KYOTO」（京都的芸術廉价中心）など。 Born in Miyagi, 1988. Completed his master’s degree at Kyoto University of Art and Design Graduate School in 2015. Taking the relationship between humanity and the environment as his major theme, he works on the creation of photographic artwork in the city and suburbs. Recent major solo exhibitions include “Heterotopia” (KUNST ARZT, Kyoto, 2015) and “Beyond the Landscape KYOTO” (Kyoto Art Outlet Center, 2015).
