Work Details
Title:福原通
Medium:写真、アクリル絵具
Size:29.7×21(cm)
Year:2011
Title:Fukuhara Street
Medium:Photo,Acrylic painting
Size:11.7×8.3(inch)
Year:2011
Fukuhara Street in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan is now famous for its sex and entertainment district, but looking at old photos from around 1900, it looks to me like a normal place with no such disreputability.
In Japan, such districts are probably made out of consideration for other places, however, they usually are not to be revealed.
This work is an attempt to embody the "hidden nature" and the "sexy district".
The former is obscured by the dot-like circles, and the dots are pinkish in color to evoke the image of the sex district.

Contemporary Artist
My work is guided by the shifting moods of the "now." Each project begins with a unique theme and approach, leading to a diverse collection that may seem visually disconnected. Yet, beneath the surface, a consistent trace of emotion and atmosphere remains. I invite you to experience these intangible threads that tie my creations together. At first glance, my work lacks a unified style, often leading people to ask, "Did the same person really create all of this?" or "What exactly are you trying to express?" To be honest, I intentionally craft my work so that it eludes a single, clear-cut image. My goal has always been to create a body of work where, upon looking back, one might only catch a vague, flickering sense of—"Perhaps this belongs to that artist." This concept has remained steadfast since I first began creating. By doing so, I believe I can maintain a vast expressive range without boundaries. I prioritize the raw impulse and the urge to express above all else. I have no desire to be pigeonholed into a fixed artist persona or to have my work become easily predictable. I invite you to first explore my works as a whole; through that experience, I believe you will begin to perceive the essence of what I am reaching for. I am a contemporary artist. To me, "contemporary" is something fluid and undefined. I hope you find joy in that very uncertainty—in the hazy, beautiful ambiguity of it all.
