Born in 1980 in Kanagawa, Japan. Lives and works in Osaka, Japan. He spent his childhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and attended high school in Barcelona, Spain. He graduated from the Department of Sculpture, College of Art at Nihon University in Tokyo.
He produces ceramic sculptures, paintings, and drawings featuring motifs such as ancient gods, vessels, big cats, plants, and pineapples. Under the theme of “Fictional Ancient Artifacts,” his works combine imagery from different places and periods, creating a unique, floating quality as if they belong nowhere.
Koike describes his interests as “the state in which different elements coexist in harmony” and “the processes that transform the purpose and meaning of things.
