鈴木淳は、日常の中のささいなできごとに目を向け、そこにおかしみを見出す映像作品や、似顔絵を描くように樹木を描く「似木絵」、あるいは路傍のお地蔵さんに供えられた花に語り掛ける参加型のパフォーマンス、身の回りのありふれた素材をさりげなく用いるインスタレーションなどの作品で知られる。マッチョで圧倒的で感動的な美術ではなく、貧相でさりげなく、みるものを脱力させる作品は、生きることへのあたたかな思いに満ちて、どことなく切ない。
