Born in Kyoto in 1996. Graduated from Okinawa Prefectural University of Art, Faculty of Art and Design, majoring in painting in 2019. Completed the master's program at Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Art Education Laboratory in 2021. Major solo exhibitions include “Ueno Yujiro Solo Exhibition” (Tokyo American Club Frederick Harris Gallery/Tokyo 2021), “Ueno Yujiro Solo Exhibition Clash of Two Spirits - Tenchi and Earth” (Ginza Tsutaya Bookstore GINZA ATRIUM/Tokyo 2023), ART MACAO 2023 Fateful Statistics “Synergistic Rhythms” (Macau Tower Stone Art Museum/Macau 2023), “Ueno Yujiro Solo Exhibition “Evoke the Invisibles” (Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Contemporary Gallery/Tokyo 2023), etc. Awards include being selected for the TURNER AWARD (2019, 2020) and receiving the Sayaka Award at the 69th Tokyo University of the Arts Graduation and Completion Works Exhibition (2021). In 2023, “Kaikan -Two Dragons-” will be stored at the Macau Museum of Art (Macau). In 2024, he became an ambassador for art material manufacturer Royal Talent.

We asked Yujiro Ueno, who continues to create paintings with motifs of creatures such as dragons, tigers, and birds based on the idea of “qi” in Eastern thought, about the concept of his work and his future goals.
