1999年神奈川県出身。武蔵野美術大学油絵学科に所属しながらアニメーションに出会い、「動く絵画」を制作するようになった。2024年大学院修了後同大学助教に就任。アニメーションと絵画の境界線に立ち制作を続ける。
アニメーションを絵画に持ち込み制作するにあたり、映像作品の数ある要素のうち＜時間＞に着目し扱ってきた。“絵画に時間の軸が与えられたもの”を自身の制作におけるアニメーションと位置づけ、その軸で虚無感や寂寥感の表現を続ける。静止画では起こり難い、“いくら待っても大した出来事が発生しない”を起こすのである。
辛いことを忘れ弱い部分を隠して生きる私たちは、部屋の隅でしくしく泣いた記憶や、打ちひしがれ道端で黄昏た時間を空白と呼ぶ。それがいくら大きな虚でも、孤独な経験は慰め合うにも難しく、痛みに耐えながら徐々に瘡蓋になるのを待つ必要があるだろう。岡村の作品はその過程に存在する。無数に線を重ねながら、私たちの内包する数十年の時間に確かに存在する“大した出来事が発生しない”時間、を線描でなぞっていく。孤独を耐え忍ぶ私たちを刻みこみ、あわよくば慰めになるようにと淡い期待をこめながら。
