I create a wide variety of things using paper and a utility knife. By inventing a unique technique of layering black and white paper, I have established a new way of expressing paper cutting. In 2012, I moved to New York and began my artistic activities. In the same year, I held a solo exhibition at the prestigious Jadite gallery. I was interviewed by the New York Times and received high praise. In recent years, I have won an award at the World Exhibition of Japanese-French Contemporary Art (National Art Center, Tokyo), been selected for the Ecole de Paris exhibition (Place des Vosges, France), and was specially recommended for an exhibition at the Setubal Museum in Portugal, expanding the scope of my activities to the world. I announced a collaborative work with Theseus Chan in Comme des Garçons DM. In 2018, I changed my name from KROUD to Hirano Chiaki.
