Gallery Butaiura

"Gallery Butaiura" is an art gallery produced by The Chain Museum, the operators of ArtSticker.

It was designed not merely as a place for viewing art, but as a space that fosters human interaction—a venue where the experience of appreciation naturally sparks a desire for conversation. Our programming spans a wide spectrum, from museum-established veterans to trending artists gaining global attention, and occasionally incorporates dining experiences as well as performances such as theater and dance.

The physical space is composed solely of steel pipe frames and temporary exhibition walls. Although it is a compact area of just 26 tsubo, we have created distinct atmospheres in each zone by varying floor levels, lighting brightness, color temperatures, and material finishes. Through this unique spatial design, we aim to provide a venue where one can seamlessly experience both the “omote” (front) and “ura” (back/backstage). We propose a new form of art appreciation: a state of “mutual interference,” where gazes and presences intermingle through the various gaps in the structure.
