《作品コンセプト》
夜、賑やかな人波に対して、湘南の海が、深く沈んでいくように見えたことが印象的だった。
そして、海の煌めきが、行ったり来たりを繰り返す人そのものに見え、海の上をすべるように、街になっていく想像をしたことがきっかけで制作に取り掛かった。それは自然と人の関わりそのものであり、私にとっては素材とのやりとりそのものではないかと考えた。
紙に切り込みを入れ続け、インクに浸し、集積させ、全体のかたちと色合いを確認しながら、さらに紙の長さを調整する。紙を、紫色のインクに中間まで浸すと、黄、緑、ピンクの順で、白い紙を侵食していく様子がわかる。浸透圧による色の変化は、膨大な時間を定着させる。そうして、集積させた紙はまるで島のように現れた。また、紙にインクを含ませる行為そのものが、植物に水を与えているような感覚を持ったことから、植物の葉や蔓が伸びるようにその先にある時間を想起させ、まるで花が咲くように残るのではないだろうか。
