CV

Manami Higashi

oil painter

The characters called “2D” have come to be loved as idols by acquiring “three-dimensional” bodies called figures.

I work by imparting a movement called rotation to a figure and confining that continuity into a single canvas, in other words, visualizing the “time axis” = “fourth dimension” in the “second dimension” called painting.

At the beginning of the 20th century, I thought about painters who expressed movement and time on canvas amid the rapid development of industrial machinery civilization,

I now use the same oil paint to draw movement and time using the same oil paints with modern characters as motifs,

I can't help but feel the big circle of time spinning like a loop.

In this way, physical rotation and rotation representing time and dimensions are entrusted to character figures.

Born in Yokohama, Kanagawa. Graduated from Joshibi University of Art and Design, Department of Western Painting, and completed a master's degree in art research at the same university. While still in school, I created paintings on the themes of “rotation” and “time.” He has presented his work at various domestic and international exhibitions.
