Born in Shanghai in 1974, Xue Junhua graduated from the Shanghai School of Arts and Crafts and the College of Fine Arts at Shanghai University. As a member of the Shanghai Artists Association and a painter at the Shanghai Painting and Calligraphy Institute, he has long dedicated himself to the creation and research of Gongbi (meticulous brushwork) flower-and-bird painting, developing a style characterized by profound delicacy and tranquility.

Biography

His artistic achievements are highly recognized within academic circles. His work has received the Award of Excellence at the Shanghai Youth Art Exhibition, and in 2016, his profile and works were documented in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s database in New York. Many of his pieces have been collected by prestigious institutions such as the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy. Xue has held several solo exhibitions, including Collection of Feathers and The Happy Garden. In addition to his creative practice, he has published numerous technical books on Gongbi painting and the Instructional Sketches (Ke Tu Gao) series, demonstrating a unique contemporary perspective on nature while upholding the essence of traditional ink and wash techniques.
