Nyoman Nuarta
Artist
Born in Tabanan (1951), Nyoman Nuarta completed his education at the Institut Teknologi Bandung in 1979. At the end of his academic studies, Nyoman Nuarta won the Sayembara Patung Proklamator Kemerdekaan Negara Republik Indonesia (Independence Proclamator of the Republic of Indonesia Sculpture Competition). He was a member of the Gerakan Seni Rupa Baru Indonesia (Indonesian New Art Movement) in the mid- to late 1970s.

Biography
In his artistic career, Nyoman Nuarta has been involved in 75 national and international exhibitions, consisting of 10 solo exhibitions and 65 group exhibitions, from 1977 to 2025. Hundreds of Nyoman Nuarta's works include monumental sculptures such as Arjuna Wijaya, which is located in Central Jakarta; Jalesveva Jayamahe in Surabaya; and the Garuda Wisnu Kencana in Bali.
On his 50th-year journey as a sculptor, Nyoman Nuarta won the design competition for the New State Palace of the Republic of Indonesia in the new capital city, Nusantara, located in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan. Within one year, Nyoman Nuarta had successfully completed the construction of the State Palace in Nusantara, featuring the figure of Garuda acting as the facade of the Presidential Office at IKN, now known as Istana Garuda (Garuda Palace).
