EMĀRIA redefines by-products removed during the cooking process as "lingering materials of cooking" and creates visual art that reflects her unique food philosophy by focusing on the shapes and textures of overlooked items such as peelings, stems, fins, and shells.

Having grown up in a household that composted leftover by-products, I began to question the human-centered labels of "inedible parts" or "kitchen waste" for unused portions. By redefining these as "lingering materials of cooking" and incorporating them into paintings and sculptures, I aim to rediscover the value and stories of "beauty beyond the realm of food" in these materials.
