“Deeply inspired by the gestures of nature, I also long to mold something soft and tender.”

I Fang’s ceramics carry a delicate language, revealing her sensitivity to the sensory and emotional journey of life, and her attention to the relationship between vessel and user. She focuses on making teaware and flower vessels—pieces imbued with the quiet beauty of daily use and the poetry of ordinary traces. The warmth of hand-forming is evident throughout her work, expressing an intimacy that invites touch and presence.

I Fang’s ceramics speak in a language born quietly from the earth—not to declare, but to be felt. With her hands as instruments, she does not rush to shape; instead, she allows each impression left in the clay to become a trace of time, a memory of the body in motion.

These vessels are sometimes teaware, sometimes vases, and at times, they defy categorization altogether. They do not strive to become anything other than what they are—forms born in the moment of making. Cones, spheres, blocks, and cylinders return to an elemental rhythm in her hands, reminiscent of stones, spores, or softened terrains—subtle, grounded, and full of quiet cadence.

I Fang’s focus lies not only in the object itself, but in the delicate connection between vessel and human. She allows her pieces to retain their imperfect edges—a slight tilt, a coarse texture, the mark of a fingertip left behind. These are not flaws, but the gentle imprints of daily life, fragments of intimacy, moments made visible.

In her work, we do not simply encounter the shape of clay—we are invited to witness a soft gaze toward existence and use. This is not the fulfillment of function, but the offering of quiet companionship: a landscape of stillness, present and touchable, day after day.
