Water: The Long Afternoon

A long afternoon. Time to think about something. There are times when I can't move because I don't know where to start.

Regardless of the fluctuations in your feelings, the river flickers and twinks on the surface of the water as always.

A verse that's been in my head the whole time.

“The flowing river is constant, and it's not the original water. The song that floats in stagnation also disappeared and tied together, and they haven't tried to hang around for a long time. It's like living with people and living in the world...”

When I was thinking about a work for a hotel in Kyoto, I drew a picture inspired by the Kamogawa River.

I recently realized that the concept is the same as this passage, and since my solo exhibition in November last year, I have put a lot of effort into creating it.

A river that continues to flow continuously. Even though the surrounding objects (people and buildings) have changed through various eras, the river continues to flow there. Even though it is there, it changes by constantly flowing, and what is there does not change.

I think this picture is a way to express time.

Repeating thin linear touches horizontally is painting the accumulation of time and the existence of rivers.

Seen up close, it looks like a flowing, sparkling surface of water, and the blue screen seen from a distance looks like the surface of a water planet seen from space.

Imagination changes the scale of how we see.

There were also people who said it looked like they were looking up at the surface of the sea from inside the ocean.

The surface of the water is a mirror. It probably looks different depending on the viewer's feelings and physical condition.

Impressionism captured the changing landscape due to outdoor light.

I hope this series will be a picture that changes as the viewer's inner world changes.

*Metallic pink, blue, silver, and gold are used as the base. Light is reflected from between the layered blues to express the sparkling surface of the water.
