作品詳情

Concept and Intention of the Artwork

Foreign matter covering objects modeled after natural objects visualizes a sense of incongruity with mature modern consumption structures. Everyday life, which decays and disappears, changes to an existence that is not consumed by using soil as a material. The boundary between the everyday and the extraordinary is vague, and the outlines are blurry and imperfect. People keep making up for something they lack. It doesn't matter if it's an unnecessary presence.

What You Want to Express Through the artwork

Modern society is rapidly changing into a convenient world every day. Among them, there are certainly things that are lost instead of gaining all kinds of rich things. As you can see from the work, natural objects that have been sacrificed due to mass consumption exist there very powerfully and beautifully. However, it is unclear whether replacing absurdity, which is discarded due to social circumstances, with a material called pottery, which is fragile but never consumed, will become a positive symbol of the present day, which is a turning point in the times, or whether it will be an image of a dystopian future.

Production method

Vegetables and fruits that were actually discarded are molded with gypsum, and liquefied clay is poured into the finished gypsum mold to create the work.

Production Time

Including experiments, it takes 6 months to 1 year or more. Technical experiments are also taking time to color things that were originally all black, including foreign matter.

Production Location

The place where I created this work was molded in the 1R apartment where I usually live, and fired in a ceramic electric kiln installed in my room.
