About magazine into
As a design magazine founded in 2020, magazine into aims to understand and record all "common sense" and "phenomena" that are happening. In the past ten years, the design industry in China has entered a special period of development. The big challenge of the design industry in China comes from a sense of separation: people are still receiving information, the industry is facing transformation, local market are booming but still far from settling into normality. Based on in-depth insights, editorial-driven creative content and easy-to-read storytelling, we wish to connect individual and develop mutual understanding.
magazine into issue 0「Sketch」
Regardless of the specific product appearance, what is the value of the design? How should we treat design products? In this special issue "Sketch", we collected the actual drafts from 5 Chinese Designers, the materials and accessories used on the products and reproduced them and added them into this issue of the magazine. With the development of "Drawings", "Materials " and "Narratives", step by step, we are getting closer and closer to the truth of design.
magazine into issue 1 「MADE-LAND」
into's inaugural issue "MADE-LAND" presents the past, present and future of Chinese furniture design in three separate volumes. In "MADE-LAND 2021", we discuss the status quo and challenges encountered by design thinking involved in traditional Chinese manufacturing. In "MADE-LAND 1920s-'90s", we invited artist Lanqing Zhu to complete a set of visual creations, restore the simple emotions of Chinese families and furniture in the past few decades. "MADE-LAND 2050", based on the development history of the past 30 years, we try to infer what Chinese design might be like in 30 years.
magazine into issue 2「almost famous」
The second issue mainly focuses on young designers who are still struggling to be noticed. The unique Chinese culture and social background brings on chances as well as positive information, but it also put them in an environment of confusion and challenges. We designed two supplemental magazines for this issue. "sponge puzzle" was created by Yin Zha, it contains puzzles that can be mixed and matched casually. "sketchbook" presents the process of a material design project from which we can have a glance of how different materials are combined into a piece of art. "sketchbook" is an explanation of young designers' daily job as well.
