コンセプト／Concept
今回国宝をモチーフにして作品を制作するに当たり、私は長谷川等伯の「松林図屏風」をオマージュしました。 その松林は霧によって姿を目まぐるしく変えます。実際に長谷川等伯が見ていた景色はどんな風であったのか、その思いを馳せることは、現代のアーティストにとって至福の時間だと思いました。 私ができたことはほんの一助だとは思いますが、テクノロジーによって不便や利便性を感じつつも、彼の作品が永久に忘れることができないものだと再認識できると思います。
In order to create a piece with a national treasure as motif, I paid homage to Hasegawa Tohaku's ‘Pine Forest.’ The pine forest rapidly transforms its appearance depending on the fog. I thought it was a blissful moment for a contemporary artist to imagine what the scenery actually looked like in the eyes of Tohaku Hasegawa. I know that what I was able to do was minimal, but I think that despite the inconveniences and conveniences that technology brings, we can all recognize his work as something that will never be forgotten.

The evolution of human technology and science may expand our imagination. However, our bodies have not changed from the bodies of hunter-gatherers from tens of thousands of years ago. We now use smartphones as a matter of course, and we can easily share many images and information. That device, like our skin, feels as if it has always existed. Our desires promoted the development of reproduction technology. However, when those desires manifest in a different form, transcending the violence born from desire, we will return to universality as biological beings.
