This artwork uses heat-sensitive materials (wax, natural resins, etc.). Please avoid installing or storing it in areas exposed to direct sunlight, near heating appliances, or in rooms that reach high temperatures during summer (50°C / 122°F or higher). Please note that sudden temperature changes, as well as extremely dry or cold environments, may cause cracking or deformation.

ArtSticker's new series project, "KIKOU — Gallery in Transit."
For its first installment, in collaboration with Kitakyushu-based GALLERY SOAP, we are pleased to present a solo exhibition by Mai Komiya titled "Deep into the Skin" at GALLERY ROOM・A.
Mai Komiya has created two- and three-dimensional works using everyday materials found in daily life, such as beads, mirrors, vinyl chloride, plastic household items, cigarette butts, and packaging. In recent years, she has explored the nature of painting while leveraging the textures and materiality of her media, such as presenting the "Sleep in the Mirror" series that uses "reflective supports" like mirrors and silver PVC film.
In this exhibition, she will present her new "Deep into the Skin" series, created using resin and oil paint. Through imagery reminiscent of the inside of the skin—such as blood vessels, fat, and muscle tissue—and multiple layers of resin, works emerge that traverse the boundary between flat planes and three-dimensional objects.
What Komiya focuses on in this work is the gap between the self and the other: the desire to understand others while remaining unable to fully touch their depths.
Even when wishing to become one, we can never completely blend together. We invite you to view this exhibition, which explores that boundary and the persistent urge to touch the depths of the other through the overlapping of materials and imagery.

1997年山口県生まれ。2019年に九州産業大学造形短期大学部卒業。学生時代より日常の生活の中から素材(ビーズ、鏡、塩化ビニール、プラスティックの日用品、吸い殻、パッケージ等) を利用して平面、立体作品を制作しています。卒業後は、北九州のGALLERY SOAPを中心に、Clear Gallery Tokyo（東京）、CIBONE（東京）、ギャラリーミヤウチ（広島）、などの各地のギャラリーでの個展・グループ展や、アートフェアアジア福岡などで積極的に作品を発表しています。「Sleep in the Mirror」と呼ばれる、鏡やシルバーの塩ビフィルムなど「反射する支持体」を用いた、カラフルでユニークな平面作品は個展やアートフェアなどで評価されています。昨年より蜜蝋、パラフィンワックス、レジンなどの樹脂や油絵の具などを使用した「Deep into the Skin」というシリーズに取り組んでいます。
