ある時期に勤務していた仕事場の、何気ない業務の指示用紙になんとなく

「無意識の美」

を感じました。

多分、指示を出した人にはそのような意図は一切ないでしょう。

ですが、素早く書き記したその指示用紙には

限られた色数で

用紙というスクエア枠の中に絶妙なボリュームと筆致で

構図的にも良くハマっていたのです。

これは美術の文脈で言うところのオートマティズムに通ずるような気がして

素直にこの捨ててもいいはずの用紙を捨てることは出来ませんでした。

ただレディメイドで有名なマルセル・デュシャンほど、肝が据わってないので

せめてポップアートで有名なアンディ・ウォーホルが作成したアメリカドルの絵画くらいには

手を加えないとなんとなく申し訳ないな、と。

そこでなんとなく家にあった樹脂を用いて、この指示用紙と

私の亡くなった父が昔、もう50年ほど前でしょうか…そのくらいに作成していたデッサンの

切れ端をレイヤー状に奥行きが出るよう配置。

こうすることでオートマティズム的な無機質な創作物に対し、人の意志の欠片が混ざることで

まるで元々無意識と意識の、0と1の存在は同じ存在だったのではないか…あくまで一例ですが

そんな思索を具現化したのが本作品なのかもしれません。

I felt a kind of "unconscious beauty" in the casual work instruction sheets at my former workplace.

The person who gave the instructions probably had no intention to do so at all.

However, the instructions were written quickly, with a limited number of colors, and the volume and strokes were exquisite within the square frame of the paper, whose

composition was also well suited to the work.

I feel that this has something to do with automatism in the context of art.

I couldn't honestly throw away this paper, although it was not such an important paper. However, it is not as ballsy as Marcel Duchamp, who is famous for his readymade. So I felt somewhat bad if I didn't at least try to do something like the American dollar paintings created by Andy Warhol, famous for his pop art.

My late father used to do this a long time ago, maybe 50 years ago....using the resin at home, and arranged this instruction sheet and the scraps of drawings which he made at the time in layers to have depth.

In this way, by mixing a piece of human will with an automatistic and inorganic creation, I feel that the 0 and 1 that are unconsciousness and consciousness may have originally been the same entity.

This is just an example, but this work may be the embodiment of such speculation.
