For Yakumotaro, creation is the act of breathing new life into the popular culture and symbols shared by people, transforming the emotions, desires, and nostalgia hidden within them into a form that can be enjoyed once more. Past and present, analog and digital, personal memory and social symbols intersect lightly, generating new meaning within our field of vision.

This is the Floppy series. By iconizing the floppy disk—a technology now nearing the end of its usefulness—and overlaying it with memories of Japanese subculture like the Famicom's error screens, it vividly depicts the nostalgia of the digital age and the absurdity of how quickly technology changes.
