This project has captured the environment in Japan where a natural disaster frequently occurs. It indicates how the Japanese adapt to a devastating situation and how they have been coexisting with nature since ancient times.
トンネルへと続くこの橋の設計は阪神淡路大震災直後に着手したため、最新の耐震設計手法を採用しています。また山々に囲まれてる日本では、その山々を切り拓きトンネルを建設して道をつなげていきます。 This bridge continuing to the tunnel has adopted the latest seismic-resistant design method because the bridge design had started just after the devastating earthquake occurred in this region. As 70% of Japan's land is occupied by mountains, many tunnels are constructed to open up the mountains and connect to place to place.
日本にはいくつかの火山脈が走っているので地形は変化に富み、国土の７０％は山地が占める。そのため、日本では山を切り開いて作られたトンネルを多く目にする。 Japan has a varied topography thanks to the several volcanic chains. About 70% of Japan’s land is mountainous. Therefore, many of the tunnels in Japan are constructed through the mountains.
