Artist
Sayaka Toda completed her Master’s degree in Fine Arts, specializing in Western Painting, at Joshibi University of Art and Design in 2012. Since her academic years, she has expressed a world where conceptual beauty intertwines with its grotesque counterpart, primarily through the forms of young girls, animals, and plants in her paintings. In 2019, she introduced a portrait series as allegorical images that emerge from her subjects, captured through nighttime snapshots. Recently, Toda has expanded her practice to include painting, photography, video, and installation, using diverse media to explore themes of duality and close relationships within everyday experiences.
