BENTEN 2 Art Night Kabukicho

“BENTEN 2024” was an attempt for artists from Japan and abroad to perform diverse expressions on the stage throughout the city. Since the post-war reconstruction period, avant-garde artists have been a base for their activities, and Kabukicho has nurtured a unique culture as the largest entertainment district in Japan even now. Against this backdrop of history and energy, expressions that transcend genres blended into the city over three nights, and a new art ecosystem was visualized.

This year's theme is “Rewilding Cities.” As urbanization progresses and everything is managed and institutionalized, how can original creative impulses and free expression survive and evolve? In the chaotic city of Kabukicho, art once again regains “wild” and creates a place that opens up new possibilities.
