西澤 知美

東京都生まれ。西澤知美は「現代における美容の在り方」をテーマにコンテンポラリーアートの分野で作品を制作している現代美術作家である。

美容や医療を主題としながら、それら現代の技術が対象とする身体や肌の表れ―そしてそのフィクション性を通底的なコンセプトとして扱い、自己の境界を探求している。

彫刻、写真、インスタレーションなど多様な手法を用いた作品を制作。

Tomomi Nishizawa has mainly focused on the relationship among beauty and medical practices and how these modern technologies manifest the appearance of the body and skin, exploring the fictionality of both fields conceptually.

Nowadays, beauty and cosmetics have become inseparable from medicine and medical treatments in our society; they are not considered to be a secondary processing of the innate body, but are instead seen as a process that accompanies the act of acquiring one’s true self.

Tomomi Nishizawa’s work manipulates such interventions on the body at a figurative and conceptual level and questions our own boundaries. Works that are sometimes presented with a different kind of beauty not only remain in a critical position, but rather illuminates the truth of beauty and medical practice by opening the new path to expand the new concept.
