Work Details
The concept of the work
While painting "This is a painting," I became interested in the overlapping areas and decided to focus on them. Using mainly shaped canvases, I aim to express an image that feels like it has been cut out and extracted using digital tools.
The vivid colors on the canvas are not only the result of the layering of "Overlap" but also of the overlap of the times, cultures, styles, and environments that I have accumulated.
The word "Overlap" also has a meaning in track events, where "runners lap each other." Through my artist activity that began after a hiatus of over 10 years, I encountered friends whom I thought I might never meet again. This personal experience is also reflected in the title of this series.
