YOKOTA TOKYO

YOKOTA TOKYO

Gallery

Overview

Based in Tokyo, YOKOTA TOKYO operates as both a gallery and a publisher. Guided by the philosophy of “PUBLISHING” as an act of making art public, it presents a wide spectrum of artistic practice from the post-war era to the present.

Its predecessor, Shigeru Yokota Gallery, began its activity in 1976 as Gatodo Gallery in Nihonbashi, before relocating to Takeshiba, Minato-ku in 1989. Since its founding, the gallery has engaged deeply with the full scope of each artist’s practice—both Japanese and international—by hosting continuous solo exhibitions over time.

Tokyo Publishing House, established in 1991, originally focused on editioned works such as prints, artist’s books, and photography, eventually expanding its scope into art archiving. In 2022, the two entities merged to form YOKOTA TOKYO (Yokota Co., Ltd.).
