Overview
“STARBUCKS Cafe & Art Gallery Yanaka Gotenzaka” is a two-story wooden building with respect for the history and culture of the Yanaka area, based on the concept of “the intersection of art and coffee,” and it is a place where you can enjoy a little excitement and a special time in everyday life where the sensitivities of young artists who will lead the next generation intersect with the Starbucks coffee experience. In order to provide an unprecedented new experience combining this cafe and gallery, the architectural design of the store will be handled by HAGISO*2 Co., Ltd., which develops everything from construction and design to store management while valuing connections with the community based in Yanaka. The Chain Museum Co., Ltd., which develops a business with the mission of “art or life,” will support the planning and management of exhibitions associated with the launch of this art gallery.
At the store, works are changed regularly, with a focus on works by young artists, and you can enjoy a variety of works. A “theme exhibition” where multiple artists participate, artists and Starbucks partners also participate, and create exhibitions while having conversations. There will be a “fair exhibition” where works by up-and-coming artists will be lined up, and a “public exhibition” where new talents will be discovered through an open call. If customers come across a work they like, they can also buy it.
The cafe, community, and gallery will come together to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience, and we would like this place to contribute to the future of contemporary art as a place of activity for young artists. Now, at the Kakitoshi Exhibition, which opens on 3/28 (Sat), 3 notable young artists who depict the landscape and atmosphere from a unique perspective will present new works on the theme of “Yanaka.”
